Grade II Thatched Cottage
Legend has it that the local lord was expecting Queen Elizabeth I to visit. Feeling that his castle was not adequate enough for a royal reception, he managed to get hold of some timbers from the recently failed Spanish Armada invasion.
Having completed his own extension, he still had some timbers left and so set about building some cottages in the local village. Few are left still standing, which is perhaps not surprising given a total absensce of foundations as we understand them today. We, however, oversaw the complete renovation and extension of one of the last survivors.
